12:02 pm - Buy it and be one of the cool kids!
|
So, in my neverending quest to whore myself out to just about anyone who will stand still long enough, I highly reccommend the following:
THE OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
Houston, we have lift-off!
The DVD of IRL (In Real Life): The Bronze Documentary Project is now on sale! I repeat, The DVD is now on sale!
Go here purchase a copy.
But, wait! Before you click, copy the discount code for $5 off the DVD list price: V3BNN4DJ
The disc is NTSC, region-free, and includes not only the complete 55 minute documentary, but also the promotional trailers, a gag reel and more!
What is IRL (In Real Life)? Read the description, watch the trailers and special web-only previews, read the production diaries and more here:dlfilms
I'm in it! Like...alot! And I'm bald! And I slowly get progressivly drunker as the documentry goes on. Yeah, there are a bunch of other people in it too apparently, but really...ME! Really, the film is alot of fun and frankly, you'd be a fool not to buy it. Seriously. Complete idiot.
I've heard that if you don't buy it you get 7 years bad luck. Tho, I may have just made that up. But why risk it?

Huh.
It's been over 5 months since I wrote in this thing. I check it all the time, but for some reason, never remember to update it. Is that sad? Yes. That's sad.
In better news, I'm awesome. Thank you for asking!
Work is as satisfying as ever. I got a raise. Not a big raise. Not what I'm really worth doing it, but it's a raise none the less. And since I have a much better schedule and I still dig what I do, fuck it. It's all that glitters, babies!
Personal life is in a bit of flux as I get used to my new schedule. I see the Roomie and friends more often now. That's good. Friday nights and weekends are apparently when all the cool kids meet up. Who knew?
Personal-personal life is also in flux, as I've not yet gotten a handle on how to manage my sex life with it. Wednesday night bootie-calls are a hell of alot hardy to manage when by 10:30pm I'm too tired to tap my own ass, let alone anyone elses. It'll sort itself out eventually. Here's hoping I get used to some afternoon delight!
What else...what else...family is good. Sister fell down the stairs last week and tourqed her knee. After she told me she was okay, I laughed at her, as is my right and pleasure. Mom fought off the flu a couple of weeks ago. Brandon is 5 and loving it. Regan is 7 and bigger than she has any right to be. Seriously. The top of her head reaches past the middle of my chest! She's a giant! And taking Tai-Kwon-Do with her brother. Lets hope she has a pleasent disspostion when she hits puberty.
This summer has been bursting with awesome. Have co-hosted a number of very successful BBQs in the backyard. Have enjoyed a number of eveings on the patios of various alcohol-dispensing establishments. Have caught some live music, some of which didn't suck! Have seen some movies, most of which didn't suck either!
To sum up, I'm great! As always. Thanks for the interest.

So, a woman jumped in front of a southbound subway train 5 minutes before I got to the station. We were told that there would be shuttle buses going north and south. I waited with 300 people for almost half an hour. Not one bus going north. Was told by a security guard that only Yonge/Bloor station was down, and that if I walked up to Rosedale station I could catch a train north.
So myself and a 100 of my closest friends walked up to Rosedale station, only to be told that there were no trains running from Eglinton to Union, either way. But there was a shuttle bus coming very soon.
So I walked. And I walked. And then, to break it up a bit, I jogged. My feet got soaked. My legs got soaked. My coat got soaked. See, cuz there were these puddles. Everywhere. And lots of cars. Lots of cars.
But not one shuttle bus going north. Not a single fucking one.
By the time I got to work, I'd walked for about 40 minutes, and was late by 20. Also, my feet were soaked. As were the bottoms of my pants. Also, I was dirty. And, I probably smell accordingly. I have pieces of salt in my hair, placed there by a large puddle at St.Clair and a speeding cab.
My feet hurt and are swollen. My back hurts. I have the taste of car exhaust and salt in my mouth.
It would be accurate to say that I am fairly unhappy right now.

McKnight just called. Apparently he and his girlfriend broke up last night. I have to assume that she broke up with him, because last night when he went to go meet her, he was hella excited. She'd been on a cruise for 2 weeks.
Meeting up with him tonight after I get off work. There's drinking to be done. I have a feeling my alcohol consumption is going to be off the charts for the next few weeks.
That sound you just heard? My liver forming its exit stratagy.

Popping in to let the world at large know I'm still around. As some of you may or may not know, my grandmother passed away from liver cancer in January. As such, I've not been my usual chipper-self, and accordingly have not been inclined to check my LJ, let alone write in it. Considering that at the best of times I forget to check it, and well you get the picture.
I'm...well, not fine, but better. My family...well, other than my grandfather, mother and sister, the less said about them the better. I look foward to a time in the near future where I will not feel obligated to see or talk to most of them.
In contrast, my friends have been awesome. I expected nothing less, but it should be mentioned anyway. As I've not been the most social person in the last little while, I am quite greatful for the friends who dragged me out of my blue funk, even if for an evening. Whether dinner with the girls, drinks with the boys or basketball and wings with J'n C, my friends have done what they could to make sure that I didn't become a permanent fixture on the couch. So I express my thanks and gratitude to them.
Special mention must be made for The Roomie, who has been nothing short of out of this world. Whether dealing with my mood swings, listening to me bitch about various family members or simply letting me be, she's been a tower of support. Seriously. She offered to cook for my mother and look after my sisters' kids. The latter offer, while very appreciated caused some serious laughter from my sister and brother in law, as we all pictured a Lord of the Flies scenario, with the Roomie tied to a chair as the kids, faces painted, danced around her with spears.
Nevertheless, while I always appreciate her, she upped her level of awesomeness to a re-DUNK-eless proportion. She made the last month much more bareable then it would have been otherwise.
And while on the topic of The Roomie's awesomeness, she has been a whirling-dervish of domestic divinity. While I've been next to useless in just about every category, she's been freakishly on the ball. Whether taking down the X-mas decorations, general cleaning or painting the bathroom, she been Melly-on-the-spot. In fact, I will go so far as to say that to those who will be attending our House Re-Warming, or whatever we're calling it, please direct all compliments to her, as I've done sweet-fuckall. It's all her!
So that's where I'm at. Today I will go home, play some video games (Haven't touched it in almost 3 weeks!), order some food, watch some football and eventually new Rome. That's as an exciting an evening as I wish for today.

I cannot believe it is only 1pm. Feels like I've been up all day.
Wait.
I have been!
IKEA delivery guys called right before 9am to ask if they could deliver our furniture early. I said yes...I think, and then literally *rolled* out of bed to make myself wake up. I almost killed Talon, but I think he got over it.
Had a coffee and some potato pancakes and it was like I was all alive and shit. Awesome!
IKEA guys showed up at almost 10am. Delivered the couch and recliner. And inspite of them managing to break the chandelier in the hallway, they were quite good. I mean, I honestly didn't think that couch was going to fit through the doorway to the living room. Shows what I know!
So, after calling the Roomie and letting her know that the furniture had arrived and that the chandelear was broken, I began assembling. It went well and we once again have a living room. Isss niiiice!
Also, had to call the Roomie again to let her know I found Talon. He tends to hide when large, burly delivery men come by and there is always a fear that he ran outside. And I am happy to know that while he may at times be a whiny little bitch, he's still not dumb enough to run OUTside when the door is wide open. Cuz baby, it's cold outside.
I still cannot believe it's 1pm. My day fucking off! *sigh*
Current Events!
Americans! Congrats on the election. Unless you voted Republican. Then...um...sorry? *shrug* I dunno how many Republicans I have on my friendslist. Probably not many, but ya never know! I read the Iraq Study Group report because I had nothing else to do. To sum up: It's a clusterfuck. Get out.
What else...hmm...oh! I'm alright. As always. My grandmother is dying of liver cancer. She can still totally take me in a street fight though, which I find encouraging. She's still the toughest lady I've ever known. Seriously. She could body slam you. Don't believe it? Try her. She'll end YOU! And then make me porgies! Bitch!
Work is good. We had an assault in the building a couple of weeks ago. The tenant fought him off AND got a picture of the fucker with her cell phone. Word! Ballsy gal and I dig that about her!
The house is now all festive and shit. Tree is up and decorated. As is outside, thanks to The Roomie.
So, in short: All is well! Except for that that isn't. And as I canna do anything about the things that arn't well, I take refuge with a quote from Mr. Tom Stoppard:“I take refuge,“in the fact that I can’t change anything by agonizing about it, so I don’t."
I love my grandmother. I love my family. I love my friends. All unconditionally and without reservation.
I do what I can and don't carve myself up about the things that I can't.
Now, I plan to nap on the new couch. Because it must become used to me laying on it with two cats on my chest and/or groin.
Now go hug someone and tell them they look good. Because no matter what else is going on in the world, hugs are nice, and it's always nice to hear you look good.
Word to yo' Mutha!

So. I'm slightly hungover. Birthday party last night. Many a martini was had. Most, made by yerstruly.
*sigh*
After 2 daiquiris, and 4 martinis, I should be barred from making my own drinks. Really. It's simply madness to let me do it. I think one of my drinks actually brought tears to one person who sampled it. I thought it was mighty tasty, but whateva!
So, I'm here at work. Bored to tears. And, I say again, hungover.
But it's not all doom and gloom! I have tomorrow off! Going to go visit my mother. She's got a bootleg of PotC:Dead Man's Chest that I'll get to borrow. And she's making potato salad!! I'm excited about the potato salad.
I work Tuesday and Wednesday, then off until Saturday. Then next week, there's visitors a'comin! And then a weekend at a cottage! And, most likely, a hangover or two along the way.
So, while I may feel like a bag of smashed assholes right now, I remain upbeat. Also, a absolutely brilliant day outside. I may swing by the butcher shop and grab something for a bbq. Cuz bbq and beer are the best cures for a hangover.
It's true. I read it in a magazine. True, the magazine was BBQ & Beer Monthly, but that just means they really did their research, right? Right.
Okay, I'm off to find some coffee.

1:20 pm - Grand Theft MOTO!!!
|
With every bit off good luck, there's gonna be some bad luck.
Good luck is that my tooth infection is probably mild, and the ER doc gave me a perscription for antibiotics. Gooder luck, I haven't had to take a painkiller since I went to bed last night. So, it appears that I'm on the mend and that my brain is unlikely to explode and ooze out of my ears.
Bad luck?
Well it appears that some worthless shit came on to my porch less then an hour ago and STOLE my cigarettes. 3/4s of a pack! And my lighter. And something else...what was it...oh yeah! My FUCKING CELL PHONE!!!!
I don't have the words to describe my rage at the moment. I'm literally stalking the around the house out of sheer frustration. I've searched all over the place, thinking I may have set it down somewhere, and nothing. Which means that I left it on the porch after I came in from talking to work and having a cigarette.
From the time I came in and the time I went back out for a smoke was perhaps an hour. Tops.
So, this here is warning to anyone and everyone who may have given me their phone number. If some jackass from Toronto crank calls you, it's not me. It's a different jackass.

11:55 am - I am not a monster! I am a human being!
|
Tis true! Even if most of yesterday I did look like a freak show escapee.
I've got some kind of infection in the right side of my jaw. Near the front of my mouth. Painful as all hell, and yesterday it swelled up like someone hit me in the face with a baseball bat. A tooth in general had been bothering me slightly since late thursday night, but it wasn't unbareable. The tooth in particular has always been sensitive to hot and cold, so I thought I'd just irrateted a bit with something I drank.
Apparnetly not the case.
Hurt alot more on Friday, and on Saturday it started to swell slightly. When I woke up on Sunday to go to work, lower right side of my jaw had swelled up...um...alot.
Sadly, I cannot go to a dentist until Friday, as a) I can't find my insurence information and b) don't have the money to go until I get paid.
On the upside, I'm taking some rather groovy painkillers. Not alot, but some.
They make me feel pretty.
Which is good, cause the mirror most defnitily doesn't.
*ugh!*
On the other hand, if this is the worst thing that happens to me this week, I'm still better off then a most of the other people on the planet. I'll take some weak ass tooth pain and some swelling over...well...read a newspaper.
It's all about putting things in perspective, I think.
Now, I shall go ice my face.

I went to sleep last night at about 9:30pm. Don't know why I was so tired, as I hadn't done anything particularly strenuous yesterday. Got up, watched some TV, met J and C for Superman Returns (still really good!), went out for pints and wings, came home, BBQed some sausages, ate'em, felt tired, and then went to bed. *shakes head*
As I've been advised by many a friend recently, one does not take a nap after 7pm, unless your like...an ER doctor or something. So as I climbed the stairs to my room, I knew I was going down for the count. So imagine my frustration when I woke up a little after 1am, wide awake and bushy tailed. *sigh* I forced myself to go back to bed, and promptly woke up every hour on the hour. At 6am I woke up to the cats at my door begging for food. The only thing missing were them wearing pageboy hats and overalls. So I fed them, had some water and went back to bed. Wake up for good shortly after 8:30am.
Let me tell you, there's fuck all I feel like doing at that hour when I don't have work to go to. Sure, I'm sure there were any number of things I COULD have done, but fuck that shit. I chose instead to wander around the house in my underwear, chase the cats around the house, telling them I'm their father while wearing my Darth Vader helmet. It's fucking hot under that thing, by the way.
After that I went on the front porch with my coffee and my new Playboy, and relaxed. I was still just in my underwear, but removed the Vader helmet due to excessive sweating. There's a really good interview in it with Dennis Leary this month.
I finally put on some pants on around 10:00am. Checked the mail box, and low and behold, GST refunds! For me! And one of the roomies. But mainly, ME! I know it's not exactly free money. It's money I've already spent. It's like getting mugged, but then, months later, the mugger swings by the house and tells you he doesn't even know why he robbed you in the first place.
The timing on this sudden influx of cash could not be more perfect. While I do get paid today, I have rent to pay from it. On top of that, I have C's birthday thing tonight to go to. As well, with the last of the propane well and truely used up, me thinks it time to invest in a new BBQ. One that doesn't use propane. One that uses wood. Or charcoal. Or random combustibles that I find in the street!
Happy, happy day!
In a less self-involved moment, I also folded one of the roomies laundry, and did a bit of my own. Which brings be back to being self-involved. But at least I'll be self-involved in some clean clothes.
So now enjoy my second coffee of the day, listen to some ACDC, and await a call from either J or C.
Viva la Friday!

2:53 pm - It's Vacation time, baby!
|
So here I am, mid-day on the first day of my 5 days of no work. I will ignore the fact that I had to stay over an hour late at work last night to finish the paper work on a tenant that freak the fuck out and, among other things, accused the assistant superintentdent of sexual harassment. Nope! Not getting into that!
Cuz it's vacation time, baby!
Technically I only took this coming weekend off work, but added to my 3-days off this week, and it's a whole week! Well, 5 days anyway. Not a whole 7 days. Because that would be...expensive.
Doesn't matter!! 5 days! WHOO!
So what are my plans of this excess of leisure time? Absolutelyfuckingnothing!
Well...that's not completely true. Tomorrow I'm going to see Superman Returns for the second time. Perhaps in IMAX. Yes, I loved it that much. So good. Go see it right now. Stop reading, leave work. GO!
On either Friday or Saturday, I've got a birthday celebration to go to for my friend Carolyn. Don't know where. Don't know when. But, and this is just an assumption on my part, I think there may be some drinking of the alcohol in relation to the event. Again, just an assumption. Also, perhaps some dancing. And since I haven't broken it down ol'school in awhile...well, I will advise all attendees to wear protective eyewear.
There will be a visit to my mother's place at some point, as I must help her switch TVs from her living room to her bedroom. Thrilling stuff. Really. Because Load knows I can't visit her and just...you know...visit. Nope, there are chores to do! I'll probably do her laundry for her as well. And some grocery shopping as well. Oh, and we may even get to hang out and talk for a bit, if I have a moment.
But that's it! That's all I'm committed to. I will be bound to no other engagements! The rest of my free time will be spent BBQing, enjoying frosty beverages, lounging, napping, playing with cats, playing PS2, watching DVDs and/or wasting more of my precious, precious life.
I have a feeling I'm going to be content, if bored. So feel free to call me. Or visit. Throw a dead fish at the front door. Don't worry, the cats will eat it. Or, if somewhat fresh, on the BBQ!
Okay, Portugal v France is on. Must go!

Ya know what I hate? When I think I have a handle on a situation I'm in, and everything is confirming that assumption, and then that assumption whispers in your ear..."Hey! Do you like my friend?"
*head smack*
Should have seen it coming. Should have known. The situation was too good. Everything was going way too smoothly.
I mean really, what girl talks about herself all night to a guy, while her best friend sits quietly for the most part, and then, as you're ready to 'leave' throws out THAT??
I know almost nothing about the best friend!! You've been talking about yourself all bloody night! I like YOU! I would like to see YOU again!
And so here I sit. Feeling bad. Not so much for myself, but for the best friend. Who I know nothing about. But will probably see everyday I'm at work.
Awkward!
Tho I do feel a little bit bad for me. I mean, really. I could have just gone home and watched the Daily Show and some Season 2 24 episodes. Instead, I feel like an asshole.
And people wonder why I rarely deviate from my regular patten.
Sex is easy. Giving a shit is hard.

9:14 am - Marley & Me
|
So, I've spent the last week apartment/dogsitting for my friends J & C, who are vacationing in Panama. They left Sunday morning, and get back this Sunday night.
It has been alot of fun. Really brought home how much I miss having a dog around. I grew up with with one, and had one until Sheba passed on about 8 years ago. I mean, I love cats too. I've had one (at least) around me my whole life as well. But there's something about having a big, goofy dog around that that just brightens my mood. How can long can ya frown when a great slobberin' pooch is just so damn happy to see ya? Me? Not very long. *nod*
So this weeks has been a helluva lotta fun for me. It has helped that Marley is a generally well behaved dog who actually listens to me. Most of the time. He's just over 6 months old, a Retriever/Shepperd mix and has more energy then any living thing has any right to. But it is not a limitless supply, as I have exhausted that little son of a bitch out more then once! Ha!
I've had 3 days off this week, and of them all, Wednesday had the best weather. I took him out for nearly 4 hours to a near by park and between the soccer ball, football, wrestling and general running around, that pup was ready for a nap by the time we got home. Which was good, cuz so was I. Later I picked up some steaks, and had a little bbq for us on the balcony. Then we ended the evening with a cigar, a whiskey and reading the latest Entertainment Weekly.
Okay, I had the cigar and the whiskey, but I did read him the article about just how much movie stars make. We both agreed, way too much. *nod*
On Thursday the weather was complete ass for most of the day, so we stayed inside most of the time, watching Season 2 of The OC (which is actually alot better the second time around. Damn you Season 3!!) And we wrestled. For about 2 hours. It was a best of 11 tournament. And it was a close run thing. I dominated early, taking the first 2 falls. It appeared Marley had no answer to my Atomic Leg drop or Airplane Spin. But he battled back, taking the 3rd and 4th matches, catching me both times with his now patented PLD (Puppy Lunge of Doom!)
We'd both gotten the measure of the other, and then it was on! The battle raged back and forth through out the apartment, see-sawing back and forth. I scored a pinfall after catching Marley with a modified Bulldog DDT. Marley answered back with a pinfall of his own, hitting me with a flying Asscheck off the couch. It was blatantly illegal, as Marley is not allowed on the couch, but the Ref didn't see it. He's blind, I tells ya!!!
We were all tied up, nearing the 2 hour mark in the match. Both of us were exhausted, barely able to stand up. Marley was panting like a sonofabitch. So was I. We were locked in a staredown when Marley made his move. Faking left, he darted right, hitting me with a shoulder block to leg. I dropped to one knee, staggered. Summoning up the last of his strength, Marley lept on my back and attempted to lock in a SHK (Sleeper Hold with Kisses). With the hold nearly locked in, and my neck covered in puppy spit, I found the strength to get back on my feet, reverse the hold, and nail him with a Sitdown-Powerbomb. I then rolled him up for the win and the capacity crowd of action figures went absolutely wild!! Getting shakily to our feet, we eyed each other for a moment, before embracing and celebrating the greatest match ever to be performed in that living room.
Then we had some water and took a nap on the floor.
Friday was a mixed bag. Crappy weather at first, that just turned around when I had to step out and pick up my paycheck. The Roomie and her Husband dropped in later that night for pizza, hockey/basketball and conversation. Both Marley and I were fast asleep by midnight. I'm back at work today, and back home Monday night. Which I'm kinda looking forward to. As much fun as it's been with Marley, I miss the laid back atmosphere with the kitties. They can be royal pains in my ass on occasion, but their kitty snuggles are very zen-inducing. When they're prodding me to death, that is. Also. Kinda miss my girls.
I've also been without computer access for the past 3 days. Which...wasn't really a hardship, considering how little I actually use it for personal stuff. Can't really surf at work even though I'm in front of a computer for 8 hours day, and when I'm at home the last thing I want to do is sit in front of the 'puter. Only reason I have time to make an entry today is because exceedingly dead. It won't last, I'm sure.
The rest is going as usual. Life is like a box of chocolates. Likely to give me cavities if I don't spit and rinse regularly.
Hope everyone is doin' well.
I'm out! *peace sign*

I am so bloody bored.
I hate Sunday mornings at work. I don't see hardly anyone till after 12. Just people going out for coffee and papers. And the occasional Walk of Shame.
*sigh*
I'm hungry too!
But it's raining and cold outside, and I donwanna go out for anything. Where's the Pizza Fairy when I need him. Stupid imaginary food dispensing fairies!
*sigh*
I just wanna go home, wrap myself in a blanket on the couch with a big cheeseburger and Resident Evil 4.
But nooo! I'm here. At work. Like a sap!
*checks watch*
4 hours left.
Mmmm...cheeseburger and zombies. I can't wait!

10:00 am - I got *nudged*
|
Leave it to my lovely roommate to nudge me electronically, instead of just saying 'OY! Update yer LJ, ya shiftless bum!'
It's true, she actually does talk like that, tho only to me.
And possibly the homeless. (Yes! Melly's Completely UN-True Hollywood Stories!!)
Anyway, an update, eh.
Uh...um...Happy New Year!?!
*shrug*
I got nothin'.
The holidays were sufficiently festive, I guess. I worked alot. Spent Christmas with the family for the first time in like...5 years. Nobody died!
Truthfully, I think we have enough children in the family now to make Christmas worth celebrating. Before, it was just a bunch of adults getting drunk and waiting for someone, anyone, to start bitching. But with enough kids around, we all just sit around, drinking, going 'Aw! Kids! Lookit'em!'
New Years Eve was rather uneventful, which I was totally fine with. Guys came over. We watched the Leaf game and the Raptors game. Played some hockey on the ol'PS2. Drank alot of beer. Went out to meet McKnight at Wish. Drank some free beer and champagne. Talked about basketball and jazz for 3 hours. Happy friggin' New Year!
What else has happend...hmm...
Oh, the building as a whole has supplied me with enough alcohol to keep me drunk right through till oh...March or April. Over 20 bottles of wine, plus LCBO gift cards totaling over $230. That my friends, is the true meaning of Christmas. As a side note, apparently the entire builiding believes I'm an alcoholic. Or, alternatively, they are attempting to make me one. Either way, they have my gratitude.
In other news...wait. There is no other news.
Oh! Yeah, Anya was over for dinner last weekend. She witnessed my mad water boiling skillz! BOOOOY! I boiled the SHIT outta that water! Cuz that's how I roll! *crosses arms over chest* In truth, it was an incredibly pleasant evening punctuated by wit, sarcasm and much profanity. Aside from the wit, it was just like having dinner at my sisters'. *g*
The only other thing worth mentioning is that the OTHER roommate caught me in a compromising position the other night. Thankfully, it was with myself, so little to no embarrassment on my part. And I will take this opportunity to publicly thank Talon for giving me the heads up that someone was on the front porch. Good lookin' out, kitty.
And...that's it. Relieved, arn't you? I figure this should do for at least a month or two, barring a sudden windfall of lottery winnings or booty. If either happens, you'll...well lets be honest, you'll still probably be the last to know.

Ya know, part of me is quite happy about the fact that if I show up late for work on the weekend, no one will probably notice. On the other hand, if someone did, it might not happen as often.
Uhrgh.
I feel like complete ass.
Couldn't sleep. Too much crap going through my head.
And at some point during the night, I totally corked my right elbow on...something. It hurts like a somabitch.
Later today, I have a Star Wars Prequal marathon with J & Carolyn. With beer and chicken sammiches.
There's more I could say. I could even probably make this a proper update, and amaze you all with all the tooings and frooings I've been up to.
But I'm not going to do that right now.
Cuz, you know, on account of feeling like ass.
Keep it real people.
